Just one act of kindness can make an impact. Join the national movement to Choose Kind, inspired by R.J. Palacio’s debut novel, WONDER.
In high school, I was not in the “popular clique” but I was a cheerleader with them, so they were friendly to me and respected me. When I saw them picking on my other friends who weren’t in their clique (the term “bullying” wasn’t used back then), I stood right up to them and ask them nicely, yet firmly, to stop and they did. I just felt so strongly that it was such a waste of energy for someone to be so mean to another fellow classmate. We all have our own strengths and I felt really good being able to help someone when they were unable to stand up for themselves, for whatever their reason. I am very pleased to see the increased awareness of bullying and increased support for those who stand up against it!!
